A bit about (A to) Mee

Thank you to each and every one of you for your love and support since launching A to Mee

First of all, I wanted to start this by saying THANK YOU to each and every one of you for your love and support since launching A to Mee. I am honestly overwhelmed and humbled by the response that I have had.

So many people have reached out, be it connections, businesses, freelancers and it’s been lovely to you all. I did notice that there were a few recurring questions, therefore I thought it would be a good idea to jot some of them down on a blog post, so that I could share the answers with everyone. Why did you set up A to Mee? A to Mee is born from the unfortunate Covid-19 pandemic. I found myself on furlough from mid-April and as much as I enjoyed the down time to begin with (lots of baking, Netflix and de-cluttering) it wasn’t long before I thought I would like to put my skills and time to use. I saw so many people helping others; our wonderful NHS workers, the key workers in banks, supermarkets, pharmacies (and so many more), or individuals helping in the community and I felt that I wanted to some how do the same. I was fortunate to land a client who was a start-up and I was willing to provide support at an affordable price. I thought that it would be great to share the workload, with others on furlough too. As more clients started to come in from different sectors, I thought about scaling this model so that we can support more businesses and individuals and it’s wonderful to be able to work with people with different experience and share the knowledge too, which is proving successful. How did you start your career in digital marketing? After graduating in Law, I started my first role as Business & Marketing Manager for a new NHS provider company in Leicester. In this role, I was doing everything from accounting, to writing bid documents to doing the marketing. It’s here where I really gravitated towards digital marketing. I really enjoyed establishing their brand and bringing that alive online. After 2 years, I moved to Dubai to start my journey in the hospitality industry as Digital Marketing Manager for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. Almost 7 years later, multiple positions, a company acquisition, a move back to London…here I am. What did you see for the future of A to Mee as things begin to revert to normal? As things revert back to normal, or the new norm, I see that more and more businesses have realized the need for a sophisticated online presence. I would like to see A to Mee grow and I would love to be able to help more people who have been victim to redundancy or a lengthened furlough as a result of the pandemic. In addition, as I am getting so many freelancers reach out, I would like to hope that in time, we could match these candidates with businesses, when they are ready to hire again. How much do you pay freelancers? This varies on multiple factors. For example, the client, the budget, the brief, the skill set required, your experience, the number of hours required (the list goes on) so it’s hard to give an exact figure. I would say, given the current circumstances, please bear in mind the pandemic and that businesses may not have big budgets. This is not to say sell yourself short, however I would say please just remain flexible and quite easily a few days work, could result in a monthly retainer. If you are a digital/marketing/comms professional who is on furlough or have been made redundant, please reach out and I would be happy to try to help. In turn, if you are a business who is ready to hire someone (because you prefer someone in-house to an agency), even on a part time basis, please reach out as I have a built tribe of AMAZING marketers, that I would be happy to introduce you to. Lastly, if you want hear a little more about myself and my digital marketing career journey, check out this podcast that I recently did with my former boss and now friend. There are some great episodes on here, so I would definitely recommend subscribing! M x
