Getting your digital strategy right from the get go!

You wouldn't build a house without a blueprint, so why go to market without a plan?


In recent weeks, I have had many conversations, with businesses small and large and have found that there is often one recurring theme. People are so passionate about their field and they have so many (great) ideas, however the one thing that if often lacking, is the plan and strategy.


Here at A to Mee, the first thing we start with, with any client, is creating the digital marketing strategy and plan. This is so important because this is your foundation, which should also include your short term and long-term goals. After all, you wouldn’t build a house without a blueprint, therefore why would go to market, without a plan?


Here are our 5 top tips to help get you started:


1. Know your objective and set your goals – This is so important to establish from the beginning so that you can understand what tactics to use and what you’re striving for. Identify a mission and set your goals!


2. Know your audience – Understanding who you are talking to and ensure that you are speaking the same language as them, is key. I’m often guilty of speaking the way in which I would like to be spoken to, however it’s important to know who your consumers are and reach them in the right way. 3. Learn from your mistakes – What hasn’t worked in the past and what are you trying to achieve? It may be that a certain tool or platform, just wasn’t right for what you set out to achieve, therefore use that knowledge and data to implement the right tactics into your plan.


4. Don’t try to do everything at once – Often we want to do everything on day one and that shouldn’t always be the case. Your digital marketing plan, will enable you to set out different tactics at different times, allowing you to focus on the right thing at the right time. For example, if you’re revamping your website, do that first, before you start any paid media campaigns, as this is where your traffic is coming to.


5. Don’t always stick to the plan – We live an era where things are constantly changing (Dare I say the C-19 word) and there we need to ensure that we are able to adapt, where necessary. Your plan may not always go as you imagined, therefore it’s important that we are able to make quick changes, to ensure that we remain on track.
